iAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Programme

iAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Programme

Many of our newer Members may not be aware that we run an Advanced Driver programme for Members once they have gained the full driving licence. Details are on the  iAM RoadSmart Driving Programme page.

Last Sunday morning, while normal driving was going on at Castle Combe, Matthew Hughes was taking his Advanced Driving Test, and we are pleased to say that he was successful and achieved a F1RST, which is iAM RoadSmart “speak” for a Distinction.

Matthew, who joined the Club at 15 years old, has had his progress to both Grade 1 and the Advanced Driving Test interrupted by Covid, for the last 18 months, but he is 2/3rds of the way to Grade 1 after passing two parts at Combe, also last Sunday. So, a hatrick of Passes is an excellent day’s work! Matthew joins an illustrious U17CC Advanced Driver Role of Honour that you can explore on the website.

We would like to thank all the Club Instructors who contributed, to not only to Matthew’s level of ability, but for all the previous and current Members who have been through the Programme. The level of competence we see when these young people start on the Programme means that all we have to do is get out the polishing kit and get them to being advanced test ready.

Our programme is somewhat small, because as an affiliated organisation to iAM RoadSmart, we are only allowed to use iAMRS accredited National Observers, and there is only so many candidates we can handle in any one season. We would like to do more, so if there are any Associates who are National Observers and would like to help more of our newly qualified young drivers to progress their skills, please email either one of us. Our email addresses are on the same website page.
