South Cerney 30th May 2021 review

Blue skies greeted us this Sunday morning but it wasn’t long before the sea mist crept accross from the North Sea and cooled the airfield down considerably, those of us that seemed over dressed at 8am were feeling pretty smug about being warm at 10am.

It was a joiners day and all that came along managed to get a grade 5 so well done to the new members and their associates who managed to get to a safe standard of driving, its a big day for everyone and we all know what you have been through today, its fantastic to have you all along.

86 members through the gate this Sunday.

Paul Clifton was there in the Ford Mustang Mach-E that will be used in the Guinness World Record economy run. A couple of members were lucky to have a little go (thanks Paul)!

The parachute club were there again, I think we are all getting abit more used to having them along and its not quite the distraction it was on their first visit, there is a bit of a joke about getting to cloudbase if possible, well, today they were towed up into it, if the clouds had been any lower it would have been foggy for us as well.

Have you ever wondered what they are doing? Well apparently there is a disk on the ground 450mm round with a 20mm centre dot, it has sensors all over it and the aim of the game is to get either your toe or heel to hit the 20mm round centre upon landing.  That’s a pretty accurate landing dont you think?

The afternoon wore on, the sun came out, Mick turned up with the ice cream van and joined Ian with the catering trailer, I think he was one of the last to leave and was certainly still there about 5pm when all of the cones were getting packed away into the trailer, it being a bank holiday weekend and lovely and sunny, I think a few stayed on a bit longer than usual.

See you all next week at Berkeley if you can make it.
