South Cerney 2nd May Review

SC cones

It was 8am and my mobile phone was ringing, it was Jon Evans, venue controller, “Nige” he said, “they wont let us in, they are not expecting us”.

Cue long pause…. ring Martin, no reply….

Long story short, they let us in, we had booked.

Close call….

A cloudless sky greeted us first thing and a good job too as it was another joiners day. This time the club did things a bit differently, you might not have noticed but the new joiners started off at 9.30 in the morning, this gave them at least another 90 mins of driving time, most were displaying a 5 on the back of their cars by lunchtime, A couple left over until the afternoon and a whole lot of smiles all around.

Sadly, no catering this week, but the feeling among those that know Ian and Laura was that we would do all we could for them, the club is good at looking after each other.

We managed to avoid the rain all day, The President and the cementing crew had a good look around to identify the worse of the potholes for repair during lunch, then the afternoon session started.

Closedown was at 4, we cleared the site by 5, thanks for all your help setting up and clearing up, looking forward to seeing you all next week – 86 members, several hundred ice creams, nearly every new joiner graded, a great meet.
