Planning ahead for Magic Day Sunday 19th September

Under 17 driving at Castle Combe

Planning ahead for Magic Day – Sunday 19th September. Can you help?

We are now less than a couple of months away from our annual Magic Day at Castle Combe.

For those who have never been to one, it is a truly magnificent, fun day out where we all enjoy an eclectic mix of vehicles, experiences, and together raise lots of money for Teenage Cancer Trust. You can get an idea of what the day looks like from the Photo Album on Facebook.

This is all in addition to a normal driving day at Castle Combe, a day which is open to visitors so bring along friends, family, neighbours and anyone who may like to benefit from the club.

I would like to ask you all to consider if you can help make the 2021 event a success. If you are able to help in any of the following ways, please do drop me an email and let me know:

1) Do you, or your friends, family, neighbours or colleagues have access to interesting, unusual or exciting road legal vehicles – would they be interested in bringing them along on the day? No motorbikes I am afraid, sorry.

2) Do you have access to any static, fun events/stalls/activities that we could run in a small area of the paddock at Combe? I would like to have a few non-driving activities available on the day, so if you have anything suitable (Scalextric set, skittles, table football, etc.) that you would be willing to bring and ‘run’, please let me know.

3) Do you have, or can you obtain, attractive items that we can auction for charity? Can you or your companies delve into their bags of goodwill, and offer experiences/events/money cannot buy products that we could put into an auction to raise money on the day?

Also, a special ask of our associates with Grade 4 and 5 members. I would like to make the day more inclusive for our grade 4 and 5 members this year. It is not going to be easy to persuade the majority of our guest drivers of exotic cars to let our G4/5s drive them, these are all people’s pride and joy and a lot of them have never experienced the club before.

Therefore, I would like to have a separate selection of associate’s own cars, which G4/5 members and their associates can all arrange to swap amongst themselves. This won’t result in 12 year olds driving supercars I’m afraid, but it will mean everyone gets to experience a few different cars, and learn how differently some vehicles drive. The rides in the various unusual and exotic cars will still be available to all, of course.

If you would be interested in doing this, and swapping your car with some other G4/5s on the day, again – please let me know so I can plan space.

One last thing, please keep Sunday 19th September available in your diary. The more of us coming along for the day, and donating a little money whilst enjoying ourselves, the more we raise for TCT.

Please get in touch if you have any comments, or suggestions – you can reply to this mail, or catch me on any of the club days. For those who have never been to a Magic Day before, and have any questions about what it will be like on the day, again feel free to ask.

Thank you,

Nigel
