Castle Combe 9th May review

cones combe

Overnight rain had ensured the track was still wet for the early risers, a big thanks to those of you that get up hours earlier to help set up the venue for the day.

Another packed day for the instructors, some grade 1 tests, skid pan and advanced driving at the end of the day. Ian Quick’s skills test looked like fun, but I didn’t get a chance to have a go sadly.

The numbers…

106 members present

5 upgrades (would have been more if paperwork had been done)

46 instructions

Cafe H bar’s steak and stilton pie hit the spot perfectly at lunchtime,  Tony Wright was busy fixing the door on the club’s Seat, we really do have some skilled people in the club that are happy to muck in and get their hands dirty if needed.

For me, it was great to see the grade 5s that only joined last week getting to grips with their first full day of driving, I am lucky enough to meet some of them at the virtual open days, see them come through and learn how to drive on their joiners days and then join in with all the other members, I am sure there were a few cones clipped and a few stalls, but its all part of it, we have all been there, dont panic 🙂

We managed to keep dry all day, it looks like we dodged the rain by about a hour in the afternoon.

See you all again next week at Berkeley.
